AI engineer with more than twenty years of experience building production software across federal, financial services, advertising technology, enterprise, and small-business environments. Founder of FirstCoast.ai, where I design AI agents, workflow automations, web applications, and a multi-tenant web platform.

Experience

Founder and Principal Engineer, FirstCoast.ai. Jacksonville, Florida, and remote. December 2024 to present.

  • Founded an independent AI engineering consultancy that designs, implements, and hosts production AI systems and web applications for small and mid-sized businesses.
  • Architected a multi-tenant platform on Next.js, Payload CMS, TypeScript, and Docker, self-hosted on DigitalOcean with Coolify and serving several tenants from one codebase.
  • Built draft-for-approval agents for intake, invoicing, and content, with no step that sends anything without a person's approval.
  • Delivered a signed technical partnership with a B2B marketing agency, building an AI-visibility audit engine and a dashboard for client reporting.
  • Retained as an ongoing contract client by a former employer.

Technical Lead and Senior Software Engineer, THTBC. Remote. September 2023 to December 2024.

  • Supported the modernization of a mission-critical federal system.
  • Modernized legacy .NET functionality in Java by extracting business rules, workflows, and architectural patterns from the existing codebase.
  • Built an AI-assisted RFP response platform using Next.js, Azure AI Search, Blob Storage, Document Intelligence, OpenAI, and historical SharePoint content.
  • Developed a retrieval-augmented help assistant that interpreted natural-language questions and returned contextual application guidance.
  • Automated real-time synchronization of ADP Workforce Now data with a WordPress careers site, eliminating duplicate manual entry.

Senior Director, Platform Development, AdTheorent. Jacksonville, Florida. November 2018 to September 2023.

  • Led planning and delivery for an AWS-hosted, real-time advertising platform processing more than 1.5 million bid requests per second.
  • Managed distributed teams of software engineers, architects, designers, and QA professionals across onshore and offshore locations.
  • Translated product roadmaps into technical requirements, delivery estimates, architecture decisions, and cross-team engineering plans.

  • Architected integrations spanning web applications, databases, hardware, and connectivity systems for global financial initiatives.
  • Migrated legacy applications to .NET MVC without downtime and delivered REST APIs for cross-system data exchange.

  • Designed and built Verizon University, a custom learning management system providing training, reporting, and a knowledge base to a large customer service organization.
